Castle Stalker's history is marked by a turbulent, back-and-forth ownership between the MacDougalls and Stewarts before passing to the Campbells in 1620, with notable events including its use as a garrison during the 1745 Jacobite Rising and a famous drunken bet where a Stewart lost the castle to a Campbell. After being abandoned around 1780 and losing its roof, it was extensively restored in the late 1960s by Lt. Col. Stewart Allward, whose family still owns it. #scotland #castle #history #disc
