My hand colorized image of the original black and white photograph of Jubal Anderson Early (1816–1894). Early was a prominent Confederate general during the American Civil War, best known for his aggressive leadership in the Shenandoah Valley. A graduate of West Point (1837), Early served in the Second Seminole War and the Mexican-American War before practicing law in Virginia. Robert E. Lee referred to him as his "Bad Old Man" due to his fierce temper, profanity, and aggressive tactical style.
