Here’s a variation on the solo canoe self rescue, this time with a paddle float. I have to be honest that whether it’s a sea kayak or canoe I find the paddle float to be much less effective than just using the paddle without it. Without the float the paddle stays buried in the water so it’s helpful to stabilize in both directions, with it you only have stability in one direction and it’s also just one more thing to manage. My personal goal is that any self rescue takes less than 60 seconds and I
