Today Emery had a videofluoroscopic swallowing study (VFSS) done. They fed her Barium mixed with different foods to see how food moves around in her mouth, and how effectively she’s able to swallow. Our last swallow study was done in 2018, a few months after her stroke. But the last few months we’ve noticed she is choking a lot more. Emery is fed by Nick, me, or one of her nurses. Her food hasn’t really changed. But she’s still choking. Over the last six weeks it has gotten a little scary, so we
